I made personalized coffee gifts. People ordered them for Father’s Day or an important anniversary. It was really heartwarming to help someone give a gift that was made for the person receiving it.
The name was fairly literal: Custom Label Coffee. A bag of coffee, with a photo and a message made for the person receiving it. The bag I’m holding above says “BFF’s Coffee.”
The label was the personal part.
A coffee bag already has a job. The label gave it another one: carry a memory, an inside joke, or a message from somebody who knew you well enough to make it yours.
That made the occasions interesting. A Father’s Day gift and an anniversary gift might start with the same basic product, but the photo and words changed what the person was actually giving. They were choosing something familiar and making it specific to a relationship.
A small thing, made for someone.
This is what I remember most about the project. People were buying a gift for someone important to them, and I got to help make that happen. That felt good in a very direct way.
Most of the projects on this site involve software, models, or electronics. This one ended with something you could hold and give to somebody. I’m glad there’s a coffee bag in the mix.
